Stop in Maldives for a luxury vacation
With over 1,000 islands and a plethora of luxury resorts in the five- and six-star range, Maldives is a vacationer’s paradise. More than that, this tropical location can cater to your every luxury resort desire because the wide range of hotels ensures that there’s a place for families, divers, honeymoon couples.
Over 1,000 islands?
That was no typo. There are 1,190 islands in Maldives, to be exact. They come in all different sizes and shapes and only 200 of them are inhabited. Together, they make the region one of the ultimate tropical beach locations in the world. Separated by warm crystal-clear waters, you may not stay in the inviting soft sands for long. Under the waves awaits an exotic diver’s utopia.
Dive into a scuba adventure
Maldives attracts marine life lovers and adventurous divers from all over the world, Lonely Planet reported. That’s because interesting the sea creatures, colorful reefs and comfortable warm waters near the islands give the diving experience an unmatched quality. Swim with baby sharks in one of the many lagoons or go underwater cave exploring. If you feel especially daring, some of the world’s only blue whale diving tours are held nearby off the coast of Sri Lanka. Known as the largest creatures in the world, seeing one of these massive ocean giants can be a life-changing experience.
Then again, you can dive with the biggest fish on Earth, too. Whale sharks can be found in the waters of Maldives and the creatures are surprisingly docile around divers. For a smaller scale – but just as exciting – adventure, take a closer look at some of the huge coral walls. Swim with the brightly colored fish, and don’t fret around the manta rays and sharks, none of the marine life in the reef is dangerous to humans. Leave the wet suit behind, too. The water is warm enough to explore without it.
The island life
With hundreds of uninhabited islands to choose from, this may be the only time you truly have a tropical island all to yourself. Consider spending a day in the more modern parts of the archipelago; though here, modern may simply mean a brightly colored house with a thatched roof to be considered cutting-edge. Many locals in Maldives embrace a simpler side of life, taking the day to work and fish and the twilight hours to sit and watch the sunset or play cards beachside. Here, it’s typical to finish work around the late afternoon and take the rest of the day to relax with the family and lounge with friends. You may not be able to enjoy such island bliss from day to day, but experiencing it for even a brief vacation could be just what you need to relax and rejuvenate.
